Houston's Cole Slaw Recipe
Ingredients
Cole Slaw Dressing
- 1 1/2 cups Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons Buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon prepared Horseradish
- 1/3 cup Dill Pickle Relish store bought or homemade, of choice
- 1 tablespoon Brown Mustard
- 2 teaspoons Cider Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper
Slaw
- 1 1/2 cups chopped or shredded Cabbage
- 1/4 cup chopped Parsley
- 2 tablespoons chopped Green Onions
Instructions
Cole Slaw Dressing
- In small bowl combine mayonnaise, buttermilk, horseradish, pickle relish, mustard, cider vinegar, sugar and pepper. Mix well with a whisk.
- Place, covered, in the refrigerator, for at least 30 minutes to chill.
Slaw
- In large bowl place cabbage, parsley and green onions. Toss to mix well.
- Whisk prepared Cole Slaw Dressing.
- Add 3/4 cup dressing to slaw. Mix until thoroughly combined.
- Taste. Add more dressing, if desired.
- Place bowl, covered, in the refrigerator, for at least 30 minutes to chill or until ready to serve.
- Store remaining dressing in a tightly sealed container, in the refrigerator, to make more slaw later or for additional uses (It makes a great spread for sandwiches and burgers).
