I made these for a superbowl party and they were a big hit! They went faster than anything else did. Don’t forget you can change ingredients according to your taste so if you find them to be “nasty” then fix it. That’s-a you problem, leave the tacos alone. 😂😍

Sorry but not even close to Applebee’s. Also this recipe says it makes four but it only has 2 wonton wrappers. And the photo doesn’t represent the instructions. Those shells are clearly deep fried in the photo which calls into question the integrity of this site.

    • Jen, Thanks for the heads up – we have corrected the 2 Wontons to 4.

As for the frying vs. baking – Yeah, frying is the way to go. But it is also much harder to do and get the correct shape. We are trying to figure out a way to make it easier to do and how to explain it in the recipe. Until then baking is a good alternative.

Check out our Pin of this recipe on Pinterest for several photos from readers who have made these Wonton Tacos – https://www.pinterest.com/pin/457608012117206576/

One last note – the photo is what the Wonton Tacos look like at Applebee’s. When possible we use Restaurant photos to show what the food looks like when done at the restaurant.

      Thank you for the comment.

Don’t forget the lime! Squeeze lime juice over the tacos just before eating. Note: Bottled dressings like teriyaki & soy sauce are always stupidly high in salt, so either make your own or adjust amounts accordingly.

Frying the wonton wrappers is super easy! Just drop them in a fry pan of hot oil (you don’t need a lot much oil, just enough to cover the bottom of the frypan) and it only takes about 5 seconds and they bubble and crisp up so nicely. They will be flat but who cares? Serve them up tostada style. We tried it both ways and it was unanimous: the fried ones tasted much better.

These are delicious!!! I did change it up a bit I added the cilantro and green onions to my coleslaw mix. I did not use any coleslaw dressing I dont like it. Instead I added sweet chili sauce to my mixture of coleslaw that’s all it needed in my opinion. I did fry my wonton wrappers to give it that extra crunch we loved them.
