BBQ Restaurant Cocktails and Drinks
Barbecue restaurants often complement their smoky and savory dishes with a selection of cocktails that enhance the overall dining experience. While the primary focus is typically on the rich flavors of grilled and smoked meats, the beverage menu contributes to the establishment’s ambiance and caters to a diverse range of tastes.
The history of barbecue restaurant cocktails is intertwined with the broader evolution of mixology in the United States. Classic and contemporary cocktails find a place alongside traditional Southern beverages like sweet tea, creating a well-rounded offering for patrons. Popular barbecue joint cocktails often include variations of classic drinks, sometimes infused with regional flavors or a smoky twist to align with the barbecue theme.
From bourbon-based concoctions to refreshing fruit-infused libations, these cocktails aim to balance and complement the robust flavors of barbecue. Whether it’s a signature barbecue sauce-inspired cocktail or a timeless whiskey-based drink, barbecue restaurant cocktails contribute to the social and convivial atmosphere that defines the barbecue dining experience.
The evolving landscape of mixology continues to inspire barbecue establishments to craft unique and enticing beverage options, adding a spirited dimension to the smoky and savory world of barbecue.
Famous Dave's Sweet Mama's Punch Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 ounces Silver or White Rum (I used Plantation)
- 3/4 ounce Amaretto (I used Disaronna)
- 2 ounces freshly squeezed Orange Juice
- 2 ounces fresh pressed Pineapple Juice
- 2 ounces Sweet and Sour Mix, (also called Sour Mix), store bought or homemade (See NOTE Below for a Link to our Recipe), of choice
- 1 ounce Grenadine store bought or homemade
- Sierra Mist Lemon-Lime Soda (Sprite will also work) to fill
- Cocktail Cherry for garnish
- Orange Slice for garnish
Instructions
- To an ice-filled shaker, add rum, amaretto, orange juice, pineapple juice and sweet and sour mix. Shake until well-chilled. Set aside.
- Fill a tall glass with crushed ice. (Famous Dave's serves this drink in a Mason Jar. Not having a Mason Jar handy (I know, right??), I used a beer glass.)
- Slowly pour the grenadine down the middle of the ice. Allow a few seconds for it to pool in the bottom of the glass before continuing.
- Slowly strain the prepared rum/juice mixture into the glass. Stop about 1-inch short of the top if you have too much for the glass. (Just save the rest of the cocktail, if any, to add to the glass later.)
- Slowly pour soda into the glass to fill to the top.
- Garnish with cherry and orange slice.
- Serve immediately, still layered, but with a straw or spoon so the drink's elements can be combined.
