The Flying Biscuit Café Sausage Gravy Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound Flying Biscuit Signature Free Range Chicken Sausage or other Breakfast Sausage of choice
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 teaspoon dry Rosemary
- 1/4 pound Unsalted Butter
- 1/4 cup All Purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoons chopped Parsley
- 3 teaspoons freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon Thyme
- 1 large Onion diced
- 8 cups Heavy Cream
- 2 cups Half & Half
- Cayenne Pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Add sausage to a large pot. Place pot over medium heat.
- Brown sausage. Use a wooden spoon to break sausage into
- medium size pieces.
- When sausage is done cooking, remove pot from stove. Drain sausage completely in a large colander.
- Return pot (do not wipe out) to the stove.
- Add onions, butter, rosemary, garlic, thyme, black pepper and parsley. Sauté until onions are tender and fragrant.
- Add 1/4 cup of flour and stir until flour is mixed completely.
- Add drained sausage back to the pot. Stir very well.
- Add heavy cream and half & half. Stir to mix.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer until desired thickness. (If gravy becomes too thick, add a little 2% milk.)
- Taste. Add cayenne pepper and salt to taste.
- Serve hot.
