Houston's Braised Red Cabbage with Goat Cheese Recipe
Equipment
- 1 Dutch Oven
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup White Wine Vinegar
- 1/4 cup Water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 1/2 tablespoons Sugar
- 1 Head of Red Cabbage chopped or shredded into thin strips
- 1/2 - 1 pound Creamy Goat Cheese to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Place vinegar, water, butter and sugar into a Dutch oven.
- Place over medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes.
- When butter is melted and sugar has dissolved, remove from heat.
- Add chopped red cabbage. Stir all together. Cover with lid.
- Place Dutch oven in preheated oven. Braise in the oven for 2 hours, stirring every 1/2 hour or so. If the liquid completely evaporates, add a little extra water.
- Remove from oven and spoon cabbage onto a serving platter or individual serving plates.
- Top with 8 - 12 dollops (or 1 or 2 dollops per serving, if doing individual servings) goat cheese (see photo above).
- Serve hot.
