A&W Onion Rings Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 cups Vegetable Oil to deep fry
- 1 cup McCormick Golden Dipt Tempura Batter Mix
- 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/4 cup Beer (Regular or Nonalcoholic) (Not Lite)
- 1 extra large White Onion peeled and sliced into 3/8-inch thick rings
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Pour oil into a deep fryer or large cooking pot. Heat oil to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, add tempura mix, onion powder, pepper, water and beer. Mix with a fork to make a batter. Try to get it smooth, but if there are some some small lumps, that is okay.
- Separate onion slices into individual rings.
- Dip individual rings into the batter, turning to coat fully. Then carefully drop into the preheated oil.
- Deep fry rings for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown. Remove to a paper towel-covered plate to drain. Add more dipped rings as you remove done ones, until all rings are fried.
- Salt lightly. Serve hot with a variety of dipping sauces.
