Cracker Barrel Cherry Pie Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Tapioca
- 1 tablespoon sifted Flour
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Cherry Juice drained from a #2 Can (20-ounces) Sour Pitted Cherries
- One #2 Can (20-ounces) Sour Pitted Cherries
- 1/4 teaspoon Almond Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Red Food Coloring optional
- Unbaked Pie Shell store bought or homemade, of choice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- In a medium bowl, add tapioca, flour and sugar. Mix well.
- Add salt, cherry juice, cherries, almond extract and food coloring, if using. Mix well.
- Allow to stand for 15 minutes to thicken.
- Pour into an unbaked pie shell. If desired, make a lattice top with strips of pastry and brush with butter.
- Place pie on a baking sheet. Place in preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes.
- Then reduce heat to 350°F s and bake until the pie is set.
- Serve warm with ice cream.
