Chili's Jalapeño Cheese Bites Recipe
Ingredients
- 8 ounces Cream Cheese softened
- 1 cup shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 1 - 2 Jalapeños seeded, stemmed and finely chopped (adjust heat level to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 large Eggs beaten
- 1 1/2 cups Seasoned Breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar, jalapeños, garlic powder and onion powder. Mix until smooth and evenly combined.
- Coven and place in refrigerator to chill for about 30 minutes to firm up.
- Scoop out small portions of the cheese mixture, about 1 tablespoon each, and roll into bite-sized balls.
- Place cheese balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Place tray in freezer and freeze for 1 hour.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Dip each cheese ball into the flour, then the egg, and finally coat it in breadcrumbs. (For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps.)
- Place vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot. Place over medium high heat and heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Place breaded cheese ball carefully into hot oil in batches and fry for 2 - 3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove cheese balls to a paper towel-covered plate to drain. Set aside and keep warm.
- Serve the jalapeño cheese bites hot with your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch or a zesty chipotle mayo. (See Box below for Links to Some Good Ones!)
