Mongolian BBQ
Mongolian BBQ and Mongolian BBQ Restaurants have a rich history intertwined with Mongolian culture and the global culinary scene. Contrary to its name, Mongolian BBQ did not originate in Mongolia but rather in Taiwanese culture during the 13th century Yuan Dynasty. The technique involves grilling thinly sliced meat, usually lamb, on a large, open surface resembling a traditional Mongolian shield.
The cooking style is characterized by a unique process where diners choose their raw ingredients from a buffet-style spread, including various meats, vegetables, and sauces. These ingredients are then stir-fried on a flat iron griddle by skilled chefs. Despite its origins, Mongolian BBQ has become a global phenomenon, offering a personalized and interactive dining experience.
Mongolian BBQ restaurants, popularized in the United States during the late 20th century, gained fame for their distinctive approach to dining. The unique method of selecting ingredients and watching chefs prepare the meal adds an entertaining element to the overall experience. The popularity of Mongolian BBQ restaurants has since spread globally, with variations of the concept appearing in different cultures.
Dishes from Mongolian BBQ restaurants often include a range of meats like beef, chicken and pork, paired with an array of fresh vegetables and flavorful sauces. The technique’s appeal lies not only in the customization but also in the quick and high-heat cooking method that imparts a delicious smokiness to the ingredients.
Mongolian BBQ and its restaurant concept have transcended cultural boundaries, offering a dynamic and engaging dining experience appreciated by people around the world. The blend of traditional Mongolian grilling techniques with the modern interactive approach has contributed to the enduring popularity of Mongolian BBQ restaurants as go-to destinations for flavorful and customizable meals.
Asian Stir-Fry
Asian Stir-Fry is a popular cooking method that involves quickly frying bite-sized pieces of meat, seafood, or tofu along with a colorful array of vegetables in a hot wok or pan. The ingredients are cooked at high heat with minimal oil, preserving their textures and vibrant colors. Aromatic elements like garlic, ginger, and scallions infuse the dish with flavor. A variety of sauces, such as soy sauce, oyster sauce, and hoisin sauce, are used to create a harmonious blend of sweet, savory, and sometimes spicy flavors. Served over rice or noodles, Asian stir-fries are celebrated for their speed, versatility, and delicious, balanced taste profiles.

Genghis Grill Citrus Beef Bowl Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound Beef sliced into thin, evenly sized pieces
- 2 teaspoons Citrus Garlic Herb Seasoning
- 1/4 cup chopped Onions
- 1/8 cup thin Red Bell Peppers slices
- 1/8 cup thin Green Bell Peppers slices
- 1/4 cup julienned Carrots
- 1/4 cup Green Beans
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
- 2 tablespoons Ginger Citrus Sauce
- 4 ounces cooked Udon Noodles
Instructions
- Place beef slices onto a plate.
- Sprinkle citrus garlic herb seasoning over the sliced beef, then toss to coat evenly. Set aside and allow to marinate for a few minutes to allow the seasoning to penetrate.
- Preheat wok without adding the oil. (Place a drop of water on the wok to test if it is hot enough. When the water sizzles, the wok is preheated sufficiently.)
- Add vegetable oil to the wok and allow it to heat. Swirl the wok to coat the sides with oil.
- Place sliced beef in the bottom of the wok. Stir quickly and allow it to cook until the meat is done. Remove beef from the wok and set aside.
- Place all vegetables in the wok. Cook until they are tender, yet slightly crispy.
- Add meat back into wok on top of vegetables. Pour ginger citrus sauce over the mixture and stir to incorporate and heat.
- Remove from wok and serve immediately over Udon noodles.
