Auntie Anne’s Soft Pretzels
Auntie Anne’s, based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is an American chain of pretzel bakeries founded by Anne F. Beiler and her husband, Jonas, in 1988. Auntie Anne’s serves products such as soft pretzels, dips and beverages.
Auntie Anne’s has more than 300 franchisees with more than 1,200 locations in the United States and more than 23 countries globally. In the US they are most frequently seen in mall food courts or stand-alone kiosks.
Auntie Anne's Soft Pretzels Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup warm Water
- 1 1/8 teaspoon active Dry Yeast
- 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 1/8 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Bread Flour
- 3 cups regular Flour
- 4 tablespoons Sweet Butter melted, to brush
Baking Soda Water Bath
- 2 cups warm Water
- 2 tablespoons Baking Soda
Instructions
- Sprinkle yeast on lukewarm water in mixing bowl. Stir to dissolve.
- Add brown sugar and salt. Stir to dissolve.
- Add flour. Mix well until a dough forms.
- Turn out on a floured surface. Knead dough until smooth and elastic.
- Place back in bowl. Let rise at least 1/2 hour.
- While dough is rising, prepare a baking soda water bath. Combine warm water and baking soda. Be certain to stir well.
- After dough has risen, pinch off bits of dough and roll into a long rope. (about 1/2 inch or less thick) and shape into traditional pretzel shape, a pretzel knot or other shape.
- Dip shaped pretzel in soda solution and place on greased baking sheet.
- Allow pretzels to rise again.
- Bake in 450°F oven for about 10 minutes or until golden.
- Brush with melted butter.
- Coarse Salt
- Auntie Anne's Famous Cinnamon Sugar
- Melted Cheese
- Any Other Toppings you can imagine
