McDonald’s
McDonald’s history changed course in 1954 when Ray Kroc discovered the McDonald brothers’ successful California restaurant. He opened his first franchised McDonald’s in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1955 and built the growing system around speed, consistency and recognizable food.
Breakfast eventually became one of the chain’s defining menu categories, with biscuits, McMuffins and McGriddles offering different versions of the portable egg sandwich. Limited-time items allow McDonald’s to refresh those familiar formats without completely rebuilding them.
The Honey Brown Butter Biscuit follows that dependable pattern by adding one distinctive sauce to an established breakfast favorite.
McDonald’s Gives the Breakfast Biscuit a Sweeter Side
McDonald’s introduced the Honey Brown Butter Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit at participating restaurants nationwide on July 21, 2026.
The limited-time sandwich begins with the chain’s familiar buttermilk biscuit, thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon, folded egg and American cheese. Honey Brown Butter sauce adds creamy sweetness and the toasted, nutty flavor associated with browned butter. McDonald’s lists the finished sandwich at 490 calories, compared with 460 for its standard Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit.
It is a small change on paper, but one that pushes the sandwich firmly into McGriddle-style sweet-and-savory territory.

- Pat into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
- Fold the dough into thirds, rotate it and gently pat it out again.
- Repeat the folding process 2 more times.
