Jack In The Box’s Chipotle Chicken Club Sandwich was a limited-time sandwich built on spicy crispy chicken, chipotle sauce, hickory-smoked bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and toasted sourdough.
This homemade version leans into what made the original stand out: a thin, crunchy chicken cutlet, smoky-spicy chipotle spread, crisp bacon, and that diner-style sourdough build that made it feel bigger than a basic fast food chicken sandwich.

- What Makes It Like the Restaurant: Thin crispy chicken, chipotle mayo-style sauce, bacon, American cheese, and toasted sourdough recreate the bold fast food build.
Jack In The Box
Jack In The Box has always played a little looser than many big burger chains, which is a big part of its appeal. Founded in San Diego in 1951, the brand built its identity around drive-thru convenience, broad menu variety, and a willingness to jump between burgers, tacos, breakfast, and limited-time items without blinking. That flexible approach gave the menu room for mash-ups and bolder sandwich ideas that felt more indulgent than standard fast food fare.
The Chipotle Chicken Club fit that lane well, landing as a spicy, bacon-and-cheese chicken sandwich aimed at customers who wanted something louder than a basic crispy chicken order.
A Smoky Fast Food Throwback
The Chipotle Chicken Club belongs to a very American fast food tradition: take the basic crispy chicken sandwich and push it toward club-sandwich territory with bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
What made this version feel early-2010s was the chipotle angle. Around that stretch, chains were leaning hard into smoky heat, using chipotle sauce as an easy way to make familiar menu items feel newer and bolder. Jack In The Box introduced this sandwich in 2012, brought it back in 2013, and sold it as a value combo, which helped turn it into the kind of limited-time item people still remember years later.

The sandwich was served on toasted sourdough bread, which gave it a heartier feel than a standard bun.
