Bakers Square French Apple Cream Cheese Pie Recipe
Ingredients
Crust
- 12 Graham Crackers crushed
- 3/4 stick Butter divided
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon Salt
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 ounces Cream Cheese
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
- 1 Egg
Apple Layer
- 6 cups fresh Apple Slices
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
- 1/2 stick Butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Pie Crumb Topping
- 1/3 cup Flour
- 1/4 cup White Sugar
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon Salt
- 1/8 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 stick unsalted Butter sliced into small pieces
Serving
- Whipped Cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
Crust
- Add crushed graham cracker crumbs, 3/4 stick butter, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/8 teaspoon to a food processor. Process until well mixed.
- Press Mixture into a 9-inch pie pan.
- Place in preheated oven and bake for 12 minutes.
- Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
Cream Cheese Layer
- In a medium bowl, add cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and egg. Beat well.
- Spread mixture into cooled graham cracker crust.
Apple Layer
- Add apple slices and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to a medium mixing bowl.
- In a medium saucepan, melt 1/2 stick butter over medium heat.
- Strain lemon juice from the apples. Discard juice (or make some delicious Apple Lemonade! - Alton)
- Add apple slices to the melted butter.
- Add 1/4 cup brown sugar.
- Stirring, bring mixture to a boil. Then lower heat and cook for a few minutes, until the apples are soft and the filling has thickened.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool a bit.
- Spoon the cooled apple pie filling over the cream cheese layer on the pie.
Pie Crumb Topping
- Add flour, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt and cinnamon to a medium bowl. Mix.
- Add the butter and, using your hands (wear kitchen gloves, if you like) work in the butter pieces until the mixture has coarse crumbs. Sprinkle crumb topping over top of the pie.
Bake and Serve
- Place pie in preheated oven and bake for about 35 - 40 minutes.
- Remove from oven and allow pie to cool slightly.
- Serve slices topped with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream each.
