Ingredients

Base Sauce

  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

The Double Kick

  • 1 tablespoon Hot Sauce, such as Tabasco or Frank’s Red Hot
  • 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper adjusted to heat preference

Instructions

  • Place a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Jack Daniel’s whiskey, molasses, Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Stir well.
  • Add smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and black pepper. Stir to incorporate.
  • Add hot sauce, red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper for the signature double kick. Adjust spice levels to taste.
  • Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 - 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and the flavors meld together.
  • Taste and tweak the heat or sweetness as desired. If too thick, thin with a splash of water or whiskey.
  • Allow the sauce cool slightly before using.
  • Slather over grilled meats, ribs, or burgers.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
