Ingredients

  • 3 cups Cornmeal
  • 6 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper
  • 3/8 teaspoon White Pepper
  • 1 cup minced Onion
  • 3 Eggs beaten
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • Cooking Oil enough to deep fry hush puppies

Instructions

  • Add cornmeal, baking powder, salt and pepper to a large mixing bowl. Mix well.
  • Add onion. Mix well.
  • Place egg and milk in a small bowl. Whisk to mix.
  • Pour egg/milk into cornmeal mixture. Whisk to combine and make a batter.
  • Place oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven.
  • Place over medium high heat.
  • When oil is hot, spoon hush puppies, of about 1 tablespoon each. into the hot oil.
  • Fry until golden brown.
  • Remove to a paper towel-covered plate to drain.
  • Serve hot with a dipping sauce.
