Yield: 12 Biscuits
- 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted Butter cold and cut into small cubes
- 1 cup freshly shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan Cheese
- 3/4 cup Buttermilk cold
- 1 Egg lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped Chives
- 2 tablespoons melted Butter for brushing
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt and garlic powder.
Cut in cold butter with a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg and Worcestershire sauce.
Gradually add wet ingredients to the flour mixture, stirring just until combined.
Fold in the chopped chives.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead 3 to 4 times.
Pat or roll the dough to a 1-inch thickness. Using a 1 1/2-inch round cutter, cut out biscuits and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Place in refrigerator and chill for 30 minutes. (NOTE - These biscuits freeze well before baking - just add 3 to 5 minutes to the baking time when baking from frozen.)
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Place biscuits in preheated oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and brush the tops with melted butter while warm.
Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, flaky, cheesy perfection!
