Scones
- 2 cups White Flour
- 1/4 cup + 3 tablespoons White Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon Ginger
- 6 tablespoons cold Butter
- 1/2 cup Pumpkin Purée
- 3 tablespoons Half & Half
- 1 whole Egg
Glaze
- 2 tablespoons Milk
- 1 cup + 1 tablespoon Powdered Sugar
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger in a large mixing bowl. Whisk to mix well.
Shave cold butter into the dry ingredients, blending until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal, with butter pieces no larger than small peas.
In a separate bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, half & half and egg until smooth.
Gently fold wet mixture into dry ingredients, forming a cohesive dough.
Shape the dough into a ball, then use a scoop to portion it into scones onto a sheet pan.
Place in preheated oven. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.
While scones are baking, Add milk and powdered sugar to a small bowl. Whisk until smooth.
Remove baked scones from oven.
Spread or drizzle glaze over top of each scone. Allow to firm.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
