Ingredients

  • 1 large head Broccoli cut into florets (about 4 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Ginger minced
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster Sauce (or use Hoisin Sauce for vegetarian option)
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing Wine or Dry Sherry
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Garlic Sauce to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons Water (to make a slurry to thicken sauce)
  • 1/4 cup Water or Vegetable Broth
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add broccoli and blanch for 1 - 2 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside.
  • In a wok or large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • When oil is hot and shimmering, add garlic and ginger. Stir-fry 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, chili garlic sauce, sesame oil and water or broth. Stir to combine.
  • Add cornstarch slurry. Cook until sauce thickens slightly, about 1 minute.
  • Toss in blanched broccoli. Stir to coat evenly in the sauce.
  • Taste. Season with salt as needed.
  • Serve hot as a main or side dish.
