Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup canned crushed Tomatoes drained
  • 1 tablespoon chopped Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Oregano
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Cornmeal for dusting
  • One Ball Beca di Beppo Pizza Dough (See "Related Recipes" above for a Link to Our Beca di Beppo Pizza Dough Copycat Recipe) or other Pizza Dough, of choice
  • 6 ounces fresh Mozzarella Cheese sliced
  • 3 or more tablespoons chopped or torn fresh Basil Leaves

Instructions

  • Put a pizza stone in the oven, if you have one.
  • Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • To a large mixing bowl, add tomatoes, garlic, oregano, olive oil and salt & pepper, to taste. Mix well. Set aside. Liberally sprinkle cornmeal on a cutting board, Pizza Peel or the back of a cookie sheet.
  • Roll out pizza dough on a work surface and place flatten pizza dough on cornmeal dusted board.
  • Cover the pizza dough with the tomato mixture, spreading it evenly but leaving a border around the edge of the pizza.
  • Place cheese slices on top of the tomato sauce.
  • Slide pizza on to heated pizza stone in the oven. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Scatter basil evenly over pizza.
  • Serve hot.
