- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Honey or Sugar to taste
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh Ginger
- 3 cloves Garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Sesame Oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/4 cup Chicken Broth, Vegetable Broth or Water
- 1 teaspoon Cornstarch for thickening
- 1 tablespoon Cold Water for cornstarch slurry
In a small bowl, add soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, honey (or sugar), grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes. Whisk to mix.
Add 1/4 cup broth or water. Whisk to mix well.
In another small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in 1 tablespoon of cold water to make a slurry. Pour this slurry into the sauce mixture, whisking to combine.
Pour sauce into a small saucepan.
Place pan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer. Stir frequently until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency, about 3 - 4 minutes.
Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Use immediately in your stir-fries, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
