Chocolate Oreo Cake Recipe
Chocolate Oreo Cake is going to be a slam-dunk winner anywhere you take it. It's beloved by adults and kids alike and will be just as at home on a tailgating table beside the chips and beer as it is at a church potluck beside the crackers and soft drinks as it will at a dinner party beside the oysters and champagne.

- 1 package 2-layer size Devil's Food Cake Mix
- 4 ounces Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1 8 ounce package Cream Cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup White Sugar
- 2 cups thawed frozen Whipped Topping
- 2 cups Chocolate Icing, homemade or store bought
- 12 Oreo Cookies coarsely crushed
- 12 Oreo Cookies broken in half
- 24 Oreo Cookies 1/2 coarsely chopped and 1/2 whole, to top
Heat oven to 350°F.
Prepare cake batter as directed on package adding in 12 Oreo cookies broken in half. Mix gently but well.
Bake in 2 9-inch round pans as directed on package. Cool cakes in pans 10 minutes. Invert onto wire racks. Gently remove pans. Set aside to cool cakes completely.
Beat cream cheese and sugar in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gently stir in whipped topping and crushed cookies. Set aside.
Microwave chocolate and butter in small microwaveable bowl on high 2 minutes, or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Cool slightly.
Place one cake on plate.
Spread top with 1/2 chocolate/butter glaze. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Cover top with cream cheese mixture over chocolate/butter glaze.
Add second cake on top of cream cheese mixture.
Spread top with remaining chocolate glaze. Allow to cool for 5 - 10 minutes or cool in the refrigerator.
Ice all over with chocolate icing. Or leave sides uniced to give the appearence of a Giant Oreo.
Decorate top with whole and chopped Oreo cookies.
Refrigerated until ready to serve.
