Ingredients

  • 2 large Onions
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 quart Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  • Peel and cut onions into 1/2-inch slices. Separate into rings.
  • Pour milk into a medium bowl.
  • Add cut onion rings. Soak for 30 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, add flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Mix well.
  • Add vegetable oil to a deep fryer or a large pot. Heat to 375°F as measured by a candy thermometer.
  • Remove onion rings from the milk, a few at a time, and place them in the flour mixture. Turn and toss to coat.
  • Place floured rings in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove to a paper towel-covered plate to drain.
  • Season with salt, to taste, and serve hot with dipping sauces, of choice (See Box below for Links to Some Good Ones!)
