Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Salt divided
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups Water
  • 2 teaspoons White Vinegar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • Vegetable Oil for frying
  • 1 pound fresh Green Beans trimmed
  • Ranch Dressing and/or other Dipping Sauces, of choice (See Box below for Links to Some Good Ones!)

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, add flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Whisk to mix well.
  • In another medium bowl, add water, vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Mix well.
  • In a small bowl add egg and baking powder. Whisk to mix well.
  • Add egg mixture into water mixture. Whisk to mix well.
  • Pour 2 inches of oil into a Dutch oven.
  • Place over medium high heat and heat to between 350 - 375°F as measured on a candy thermometer.
  • When oil is hot, working in batches, dip beans in egg mixture.
  • Remove beans, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in flour mixture.
  • Remove and place in egg mixture a second time.
  • Remove beans, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in flour mixture a second time.
  • Place breaded beans into hot oil and fry beans for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Repeat with remaining beans until all are done.
  • Season to taste with salt and serve with Ranch dressing.
