Gordon Biersch Czech-Style Pilsner Mustard Recipe

Make our Gordon Biersch Czech-Style Pilsner Mustard Recipe at home. Ingredients

  • 4 ounces Mustard Seeds
  • 1 ounces Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced Shallots
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic minced
  • 1 bottle Gordon Biersch Czech Style Pilsner Beer or other Pilsner-Style Beer of choice
  • 1/2 cup Dijon Mustard
  • 1/2 cup Whole Grain Mustard
  • 2 ounces freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
  • Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Place mustard seeds in a medium pan.
  • Roast the mustard seeds lightly over low heat on the stove.
  • Remove seeds and set aside.
  • Add olive oil to the pan.
  • Add shallots and garlic. Sauté, but do not brown.
  • When the aroma of the garlic is released, add beer. Bring to a boil. Simmer 1 minute.
  • Remove and allow to cool to room temperature.
  • Place Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Stir to mix well.
  • Stir in cooked mustard/beer mixture.
  • Taste. Add salt and pepper, to taste, if needed.
  • Store in a tightly sealed container, in the refrigerator, until ready to serve and any leftovers for up to a week.
