Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups plain Cornmeal
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 2 teaspoons rubbed Sage
  • 1 teaspoon freshly coarse-ground Black Pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3/4 cup Creamed Corn
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 small Onion minced
  • 2 cups Buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • In a medium-size bowl, add flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, baking powder, sage, black pepper and paprika. Whisk to mix well. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, add vegetable oil, eggs, corn, honey, onion and buttermilk. Whisk to mix well.
  • Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, whisking together until all is incorporated, but taking care not to over-mix.
  • Spray a baking pan with pan spray.
  • Pour the cornbread batter into the pan. Swirl around until it is evenly distributed.
  • Place in preheated oven. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • Turn the pan. Bake for another 5 minutes or until golden.
  • Remove from oven and turn out onto a plate.
  • Cut into pieces and serve hot.
