Whole Foods Smokey TLTA Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 Ciabatta Bread Buns sliced in 1/2 lengthwise
  • 1 6- ounce package LightLife Organic Smoky Tempeh Strips Fakin' Bacon (See Note 1 below) See Note 1 below
  • 3 - 4 slices Tomato
  • Vegan Roasted Garlic Aioli, to taste (See Note 2 below for sources and a recipe)
  • 2 leaves Lettuce, or a handful of shredded Lettuce, if desired (we saw them fixed both ways on the shelf)
  • 1 Hass Avocado, peeled, seeded and sliced (See Note 3 below to prepare Avocados) peeled, seeded and sliced (See Note 3 below to prepare Avocados)
  • Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Place the Fakin' Bacon on a cookie sheet in single layer.
  • Cook the Fakin' Bacon in the oven for 3 - 5 minutes (check frequently to make sure it's not burning.) Remove and flip pieces. Return to oven to cook for another 3 - 5 minutes. Check. Return to oven, if necessary, flipping and cooking until it starts to looks "done" and starts to just feel dry. Note - In our experience, the Fakin' Bacon will not 'crisp up" like real bacon.
  • Remove Fakin' Bacon from oven and set aside.
  • Slather a good amount of roasted garlic aioli on both the top and bottom buns.
  • Lay out the 2 bottom buns, divide the ingredients equally and build your Smokey TLTA Sandwich onto the bottom buns in this order - Fakin' Bacon, tomato slices, lettuce, avocado slices (See Picture Below).
  • Add salt and pepper, to taste.
  • Top with the top bun.
  • Cut in 1/2.
  • Enjoy.
