Through the years Oreos have been offered in many unusual flavors. Sometimes these were Limited Editions. Often they are made for a foreign market with a locally popular taste. Occasionally they were made for a Special Event. But sometimes they were just experiments to see what would fly.
Most of them sound delicious (Marshmallow Crispy Oreo. Caramel Apple Oreo.) Some sound intriguing (Root Beer Float Oreo.) But there are several that just make you shake your head and wonder what Nabisco was thinking (Limeade Oreo??)
Here are the ones we could find — with pictures where we could find them (to prove we are not making them up! Sometimes, you’ll wish we were.)
Right from the very beginning Oreos had a different flavor. When Oreos debuted in 1912 they were offered in the familiar chocolate and cream version we all know and love (although slightly different in ingredients — the cream center was made of lard!) and also a Lemon Meringue Version. Don’t worry if you have never seen them. They were discontinued in the 1920s and as far as we can tell, never repeated. Too bad. This actually sounds pretty good to us.
Now, in no particular order, here are some of the Popular, Limited Edition and Experimental Oreo Flavors that have appeared through the years.
