1789 Restaurant, located in the Georgetown area of Washington DC just steps from Georgetown University, is one of the oldest restaurants in the city and a quintessential Washington, D.C. dining experience.
Named for the year Georgetown University was founded, the restaurant offers elegance and luxury with an antique-filled dining room and comfortable surroundings in a renovated Federal house.
Sink or Swim Cocktail
This is one of 12 New Cocktails being served at the 1789 Restaurant to mark the 12 days of Christmas in 2006. This was inspired by the gift for the seventh day in the iconic song – “Seven Swans a-Swimming”

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces Brandy
- 1/2 ounce Sweet Vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to and ice-filled mixing glass. Stir until chilled.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- No garnish was listed with the recipe. Garnish with whatever you like or not at all. Your call.
