Ingredients

  • One 16-ounce box Elbow Macaroni
  • 2 cups Half and Half
  • 1 tablespoon salted Butter
  • 1 pound grated American Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Romano Cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 pound grated Cheddar Cheese

Instructions

  • Prepare pasta according to package directions to a soft texture (Cook a bit longer than al dente). Drain. Set aside.
  • In a large pot add half and half and butter.
  • Place pot over medium heat.
  • When butter has melted, add American cheese, Parmesan cheese and Romano cheese. Cook, stirring frequently to keep cheeses from scorching.
  • When cheese has completely melted and sauce is smooth, taste. Add salt and pepper, to taste, if needed.
  • Place pasta into a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish. Spread to an even layer.
  • Pour prepared cheese sauce over pasta. Mix gently to make sure sauce is fully incorporated.
  • Spread Cheddar cheese over top in an even layer.
  • Turn oven on to high broil.
  • Place pasta in oven. Watch carefully. Cook until Cheddar cheese has melted and is just beginning to brown.
  • Remove from oven and serve hot.
