Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Grey Poupon Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon concentrated Hickory Liquid Smoke Flavoring
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1 Egg Yolk (If using raw eggs disturbs you, choose an egg substitute, such as Egg Beaters, from your supermarket)
  • 1 teaspoon Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, add oil, honey, mustard, ketchup, sugar, paprika, salt, pepper garlic powder and onion powder. Mix well.
  • Place saucepan over medium heat. Cook until boiling. Mix well. Remove from heat.
  • Allow to cool, uncovered, for about 10 minutes.
  • Add vinegar, liquid smoke and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • In a medium bowl add egg yolk and water. Whisk well for about 2 minutes until mixture turns a pale yellow.
  • Add cornstarch. Whisk well until cornstarch is dissolved.
  • Very slowly drizzle cooled sauce mixture into egg yolk mixture, whisking rapidly, to create a thick, creamy emulsion. This will help prevent the oil from separating.
  • Store in a tightly sealed container, in the refrigerator, until ready to serve. Shake well before using.
