Ingredients

  • 2 dried Red New Mexican Chilies stems and seeds removed
  • 3 cups fresh Blackberries
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1 Egg lightly beaten

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
  • Finely chop dried chilies.
  • In a large bowl, add chilies and blackberries. Toss gently to combine.
  • Pour mixture into the bottom of the prepared dish. Spread to cover evenly.
  • In another bowl, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together.
  • Cut in butter with two knives or a pastry cutter.
  • Add egg and stir until entire mixture is crumbly.
  • Crumble dough mixture over top of the blackberries.
  • Place in preheated oven and bake for 25 - 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Spoon into bowls. Top with Ice Cream, if desired.
  • Serve warm.
