Ingredients

  • 1 pound Bacon
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or Chuck
  • 2 tablespoons freshly minced Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese for topping burgers while cooking
  • 2 seeded Onion Rolls split and toasted on the grill
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise SCRR always uses Duke's
  • 1 cup shredded Iceberg Lettuce
  • 4 slices tomato 1/2 inch thick
  • 4 baked Onion Rings or a big 'ol mess of Onion Straws
  • 2 - 4 tablespoons Applebee's BBQ Sauce (Click HERE for the Recipe) or your favorite BBQ Sauce, store bought or homemade

Instructions

  • Preheat grill to high.
  • Place bacon in a large skillet.
  • Fry over medium heat until browned and crisped. Drain on a paper towel-covered plate. Save drippings.
  • In a large bowl combine beef, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and cheddar cheese.
  • Form into 2 large patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of the burger. (This is to prevent the pattie from doming up in the center. The indentation will rise as your burger cooks.)
  • Grill for 4 - 5 minutes each side. During the last few minutes, after flipping, add additional cheddar cheese to melt.
  • Toast buns on low or indirect heat.
  • Spread mayonnaise on bottom buns.
  • Place buns on serving plate. Top with lettuce and tomato slices.
  • Place burgers on tomatoes. Top with bacon and 1/4 cup barbecue sauce. Add 2 onion rings or a handful of onion straws.
  • Serve and enjoy!
