Olive Garden Lasagna Classico

Packed with layers of savory meat sauce, gooey cheese and tender Lasagna noodles, Olive Garden’s Lasagna Classico pure comfort food.

It is one of the bestselling items on their menu – They sell more than 50,000 orders EVERYDAY!

It is surprisingly easy and totally straight-forward to make at home. Great for a dinner party, a crowd of hungry kids or just a weeknight (make it the night before, store in the refrigerator and reheat for an easy dinner.) Don’t worry if there are leftovers – it tastes wonderful the next day.

Olive Garden Lasagna Classico Recipe

Ingredients (Taken from the video)

Meat Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 clove Garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces Italian Sausage
  • 12 ounces Ground Beef
  • 2 28-ounce cans Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry Oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry Basil
  • Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper, to taste

Cheese Sauce

  • 2 pound container Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Romano Cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Oregano, chopped
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper

Assemble

  • Lasagna Pan or Baking Dish (Size according to your noodles. 9 x 12-inch should work)
  • Cooking Spray
  • 12 Cooked (according to package instructions) or No-Boil Lasagna Noodles
  • 1 1/2 cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • Aluminum Foil


Directions (Taken from the video)

Meat Sauce

  1. Heat up a large pan on the stove top until medium hot.
  2. Add oil, onion and garlic. Sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add sausage and ground beef. Stir well. Cook until meat is caramelized.
  4. Reduce heat to simmer.
  5. Add tomatoes, oregano, basil and salt and pepper, to taste.
  6. Simmer, stirring, for about 20 minutes.

Cheese Sauce

  1. In a large bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella and romano. Mix well.
  2. Add in parsley, oregano and egg. Mix well.
  3. Add in salt and pepper. Mix well.

Assemble

  1. Cook your lasagna noodles according to package instructions if not using no-boil noodles.
  2. Spray a lasagna pan or baking dish with the cooking spray.
  3. Place about 1 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of the pan and spread evenly.
  4. Overlap 3 lasagna noodles on top of the meat sauce.
  5. Place about 1 cup of the cheese sauce over the noodles and carefully spread evenly.
  6. Repeat layers exactly with another cup meat sauce, 3 lasagna noodles and another cup cheese sauce.
  7. Repeat layers exactly AGAIN with another cup meat sauce, 3 lasagna noodles and another cup cheese sauce.
  8. End with a last layer of 3 lasagna noodles and 1 cup layer of meat sauce. No cheese sauce.
  9. Top with a layer of mozzarella ONLY (that will get nice and brown, crusty and bubbly.) Spread evenly.
  10. Coat aluminum foil with cooking spray to prevent cheese from sticking.
  11. Place foil on pan.
  12. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  13. Place lasagna in oven and cook for 45 – 60 minutes.
  14. Turn oven off and open door. Let lasagna set in warm oven for 30 minutes.
  15. Cut into pieces and enjoy.

    this doesnt taste anything like live garden lasagna.
